چکیده
Analyzing the dominant forms and extent of land cover changes in Mount Elgon region is important for tracking conservation efforts sustainable management. Elgon’s rugged terrain limits monitoring these over large areas. This study used multitemporal satellite imagery to analyze quantify upper Manafwa watershed Elgon, 42 years covering an area 320 km2. The employed remote sensing techniques, geographic information systems, software map four decades (1978, 1988, 2001, 2010, 2020). maximum likelihood classifier post-classification comparison technique were classification change detection analysis. results showed a positive percentage (gain) planted forest (3966%), built-up (890%), agriculture (186%), tropical high low-stocked (119%) negative (loss) shrubs (−81%), bushland (−68%), well-stocked (−50%), grassland (−44%), bare sparsely vegetated surfaces (−14%) period 1978–2020. observed concentrated mainly at peripheries National Park. increase population rising demand agricultural major driving factors. However, regreening as restoration effort has led forests, attributed improvement conservation-related activities jointly implemented by concerned stakeholders native communities. These findings revealed spatial temporal watershed. could enhance when coupled with studies on associated drivers use very-high-resolution areas where encroachment visible park.

متن کاملChange detection and classification of land cover at Hustai National Park in Mongolia
Land cover types of Hustai National Park (HNP) in Mongolia, a hotspot area with rare species, were classified and their temporal changes were evaluated using Landsat MSS TM/ETM data between 1994 and 2000. Maximum-likelihood classification analysis showed an overall accuracy of 88.0% and 85.0% for the 1994 and 2000 images, respectively. Kappa coefficients associated with the classification were ...

large scale land use/cover changes and habitat fragmentation is a major factor in the distribution and functioning of ecosystems. for analysis the relationship between land use changes and their impacts on biodiversity, land cover and land use information is needed at different scales. the main goal of this study was to quantify the land use/ cover changes in arasbaran biosphere reserve, northw...
متن کاملLand cover land use mapping and change detection analysis using geographic information system and remote sensing
Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...
